Tottenham Court Road site visit
Members enjoyed a site visit to the engineering works at Tottenham Court Road, where the underground station is being remodelled.

Bluebell Railway summer social
18 members, friends and family enjoyed the nostalgia of travelling on a steam railway with the guide,
Stephen Lacey. The event included a round trip from Sheffield Park station almost to East Grinstead and back, and a visit to Horsted Keynes station where the carriage workshops are. Coaches dating from 1881
and 1891 were being rebuilt to overcome the ravages of time and weather. Teak is the main material used
for building the ribbed frameworks, but at the paint shop the group was able to see a carriage from 1889 undergoing the finishing touches of multi-layered paints and varnishes. This particular coach had been restored over a period of 18 months thanks to financial help from Lottery funds and the time and skill of volunteers.
