Contractor workshop in association with PCE-UAE
Gary Beamish, managing director of Beamish Consultancy FZE, delivered a one hour overview

presentation in July of the essentials of contract formation; the parties, roles and responsibilities and their evolution, letters of intent/acceptance, types of delays, entitlements, claim contents, variations and

records. The presentation content was constructed from an analysis of audience feedback reports from the last six months of CPD events in the Emirates. One might well think that this is a lot of territory to cover in one hour but Gary expertly covered the extensive subject matter in enough detail to be informative and a reminder of the principles underlying the framework within which ICES members operate. He even covered some of the history of the development of roles from the time of the master stonemason. At both events,

the presentation generated a very extension and stimulating Q&A session.
These events were organised in collaboration with PCE-UAE and ICES UAE is very grateful for its support. PCE-UAE is a not-for-profit organisation whose main aim is to assist engineers and aspiring engineers

within the UAE in their professional development. This is achieved through the expertise of the members of PCE-UAE — who are also members of one or more of the 36 chartered institutions of the UK, who have achieved the status of chartered engineer through the Engineering Council, and undertake professional

review development sessions. Thanks once again to Gary Beamish.
