*****************************

This talk will cover the engineering co-ordinate system (both vertical and horizontal) used for the design and construction of the HS2 project, in particular describing the systems used and the background and reasons why. Included will be information on recent advances made on implementing the HS2 Snake Projection and benefits that will be enabled in the wider BIM and GIS world, in particular compatibility with software systems and the ‘single source of truth’. Further discussion will include the implications of the Ordnance Survey OS Net CORS 2016 update, and the approach adopted by HS2 to mitigate the impact including the development of a new national geoid model (HS2GM15) and geodetic transformation (HS2TN15) that mirror the OS Grid (OSGM15/OSTN15) strategy.
