An Overview of Network Rail’s recent publication : Our Principles of Good Design by Paul Beaty-Pownall, Managing Director BPR Architects
Come and join us for this presentation by Paul Beaty-Pownall, Managing Director, BPR Architects
The South East committee warmly welcome you to this free event.
BPR have been closely involved in supporting Network Rail in the preparation of their new publication: ‘Our Principles of Good Design’. https://www.networkrail.co.uk/industry-commercial-partners/supplying-us/supply-works-services-products/buildings-and-architecture-design-guidance/ The new principles are to be applied to all future Rail Infrastructure projects and have been enshrined in NR/L2/CIV/003/F004 (Form 4) from March 2019. A Design Principles Statement must now be submitted in support of all Form 4 applications, that must describe ‘the visual impact of the proposed works and the effects the works have on the layout of the asset and its users’.
‘Good Design also means Good Business, reducing costs over the life of projects’ Foreword by Sir Peter Hendy, Chairman, Network Rail.
Network Rail are looking for a cultural shift in their approach to design!
As co-writer of Network Rails ‘Our Principles of Good Design’ BPR director, Paul Beaty-Pownall will be able to explain the vision behind Network Rail’s new approach and how the principles seek to capture opportunities to add value through good design. Paul will also be able to support engineers in understanding how to prepare the new Form 4, the process Network Rail has established to review the submission through their new Design Review Panel led by The Design Council, and how to ensure this new standard has a minimal impact on the delivery of the project.
