Nominations are now open for the annual CICES Robin Jones Awards 2026.
CICES student members, trainees, and apprentices who are studying full-time or part-time to become civil engineering surveyors are eligible for nomination for this award. Individuals may be nominated by others or choose to self-nominate.
This also applies to students studying a relevant course via any of the CICES-accredited colleges/universities, accredited apprenticeship schemes or approved development schemes.
There are three core Robin Jones award categories as follows:
Awards categories
- Outstanding student who has demonstrated a commitment to improving Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within civil engineering surveying.
- Outstanding student who has demonstrated a commitment to promoting, adopting or developing new and innovative ways of working within the profession – for example, via digital tools or collaboration.
- Outstanding student who has demonstrated commitment to the profession by overcoming challenges to progress through their education or by breaking new boundaries within their education, training and development.
Each award category comprises a certificate, £1,000 and a photograph of the winners’ award presentation at a special meal with the CICES president, which will be published in CES.
The Robin Jones awards commemorate the life of former CICES president Robin Jones, who was passionate about supporting early entrants to the industry.
Avais Ahmed, who was one of the 2025 winners of the Robin Jones award in the equity, diversity and inclusion category, said of his award win:
“Winning the CICES 2025 Robin Jones Award has been the greatest honour of my career so far. Being recognised by such a respected institution, surrounded by senior leaders who took the time to encourage and support me, was incredibly inspiring. That night reinforced that this is only the beginning. CICES is more than a professional body, it is a network built on guidance, reassurance and opportunity, committed to developing people and driving the construction industry forward for a brighter future.”
